Workshops & Seminars

We offer several professional development opportunities throughout the year including an Montessori Assistant Teacher Preparation, an advanced Montessori series, and Montessori workshops customized for your school.

In the Footsteps of Montessori: Bringing Character Science & Mindfulness to Early Education*
(an advanced seminar series for Montessori teachers)

“The training of the teacher who is to help life is something far more than the learning of ideas. It includes the training of character; it is a preparation of the spirit.” – Maria Montessori
In this workshop series, we will detail insights from the field of Positive Psychology and how character strengths emerge in early childhood and the nature of adult interactions that promote this emergence. We will link current research findings in the field of positive psychology to Montessori early childhood education. Exploring our own “character strengths,” we will discuss the role they play in our relationships and interactions with children, parents, and colleagues. Participants will leave this workshop series with a better understanding of their own character strengths, strategies to use these strengths in their daily work with children, parents, and colleagues. Participants will gain insights and practical strategies to strength spot children in the environment (and build on those strengths), to strength spot parents (to further nurture the parent-teacher relationship), and learn strategies to combine mindfulness practice with character science. *Versions of this workshop series have previously been presented at Ohio Montessori Alliance Conference in 2014, Cincinnati Montessori Society Conference in 2016,  American Montessori Society Conference in 2016, and in July of 2016 at GCCME.
Date: Feb. 15 and May 10 (first session was in October but these sessions can be attended separately)
Time: 6:30pm-8:30pm
Place: GCCME, 1053 Madison Avenue, Covington, KY
